The vast majority of patients on OMMP are legitimate. These are usually people who have already been taking prescription pills, and don't like the adverse side effects. Thanks to the Cannabis TV show and thousands of studies and articles available online, people are realizing that they don't have to live in a zombie-like state as they do when they're taking prescription pills. Instead they can choose the safer, legal way of medical cannabis. The police don't make the laws, they enforce them, and the voters of Oregon approved OMMP years ago. As the law is now, patients on OMMP have no dispensary to purchase medicine from as an alternative.
Trying to eliminate the legitimate grows will only serve to expand the black market influences in our area. Let's legalize and regulate, get this situation under control. The Oregon Cannabis Tax Act of 2012 is a bill that if passed, would grant the state those rights, but until then, I and other OMMP patients alike, will exercise our rights because if you don't use em, you lose em. Help fight for cannabis law reform by searching online for the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act of 2012, and be sure to vote in favor of the bill when the time comes.
